Described as Singapore’s worst cyber attack when the company disclosed the event in July 2018. The government of Singapore described the attack as "deliberate, targeted, well-planned".
This breach impacted 1.5 million patients to SingHealth’s specialist outpatient clinics between May 2015 and July 2018, even the country's prime minister had his health related data stolen. Two employees were fired and five senior management executives (including the CEO) were personally fined for their roles in this security breach.
In January 2019, the company was fined $250,000 for having failed to "make reasonable security arrangements to protect personal data of individuals".
