In August 2019, the fashion and sneaker marketplace sent out a general password reset email to its users citing “system updates” and shortly thereafter the company disclosed a data breach affecting more than 6.8 million users after an "unknown third party" gained unauthorized access to certain customer data within their cloud environment. Later the same month, it was reported that the company faces a lawsuit over the data breach.
